Considered Charmaine Miron's "better half", Trixie the Clown
was "born" in London, Ont. in Feb. 1999.
Over the next 2 ˝ years, working with the London Laff Guards,
Charmaine/Trixie was trained on the job by London's Town Cryer, Bill
Paul in clowning, balloon animals and face painting, and acted in a
number of Game Shows, Medieval Feasts and Murder Mysteries, as well as
doing countless singing telegrams, usually as Marilyn Monroe.
Then, one morning in the summer of
2001, Charmaine awoke from a dream in which she was a highly-trained,
highly-skilled clown, and her first thought was “I’m a CLOWN!”
After years of trying to find her career path in life, and even
though she’d been clowning part-time for awhile already, it was an
epiphany for her!
In
September 2001, Charmaine moved back to her home town of Windsor for
family reasons and, miracle of miracles, landed a job as a Clown Doctor
at local hospitals with Fools for Health within the first month!
As Doctor Tilly Tom-Tom, Charmaine has acquired a huge amount of
training and experience in character-based improvisational comedy, music
and singing.
“Clown
Doctoring has been the most amazing experience of my life!
It’s the heart and soul of everything else I do.
I am humbled by the pain, suffering, courage and hope I witness
in the patients, their families and friends, and I am extremely grateful
to have the opportunity to make them smile.”

For
the first couple of years back in Windsor, Charmaine freelanced doing
birthday parties and community events as Trixie the Clown. When Fools For Health had to temporarily lay off their clowns
in 2004, the situation prompted Charmaine to get more “serious”
about clowning around. She
registered as a full blown business with Trixie the Clown & Friends,
got into the HRDC Self Employment Assistance Program, and has proceeded
to create a name for herself in the Windsor and Essex County area.
“It's always interesting to me how people will recognize Trixie
in Dr. Tilly, and Dr. Tilly in Trixie, but never my human self in either
of them. But hey, how many
people can brag that they have multiple clown personalities?!”
Ultimately, Charmaine hopes to build a network of top-notch face
painters, balloon artists and performers, and is well on her way with a
small crew of wonderful artists: "Princess"
Chantelle Matthews, Nellie the Clown, Flobo the Hobo, and her newest
friend LouLou the Clown. ("I'm
so proud of you all!")Along with
clowning, Charmaine has also been acting in murder mystery comedies with
MJM Entertainment Productions since mid-2003, usually as the "dumb
blond". "Working
with Michelle Mainwairing (who won Best Actress in the 2006 WODL
Festival,) and her crew has taught me SO MUCH!
She is definitely one of the funniest women I've ever known, and
really knows how to work a crowd! It's
a real honor to have her as a mentor."
Charmaine has also been on stage at Theatre Windsor, (Right at
Home, One Act Play Fest 2004; Exit the Body, 2004; Here on the Flight
Path, 2005,) and with the Rose City Players, (The Odd Couple, 2005,) and
is grateful for the experiences and for the supportive environment.
Thanks also go out to Ray James (teacher, Improv for the
Terrified), another of Charmaine's inspiring mentors!
Final words? "I
just hope that, when children and adults alike look into my eyes, they
see a reflection of their own beauty and worth, because I think humans
are THE most wonderful beings on earth!"
